BARNS URGENTLY NEEDED

Feral Relocation Program
In keeping with our mandate to help reduce the numbers of unwanted animals and help improve the quality of their lives, M.A.R.S. have been feeding, humanely capturing, sterilizing and socializing many feral cats in the Mississauga and West Toronto area. Many of these cat colonies have taken up residence in dilapidated, abandoned buildings which are slated for demolition and new development. Our primary aim is to remove these cats from these high-risk areas, treat them for any injuries and/or illnesses, vaccinate, spay/neuter and socialize them, so that they may be ready for adoption.

For many of these cats, however, socialization is not an option, as many of these feral's are particularly resistant to human contact for various reasons. For these cats we have been trying to develop a network of contacts with people living outside of the city where possible release onto properties with barns may be a favorable option. For our Feral Relocation Programs we are in need of people willing to take some of these feral's in as barn cats, who would also be willing to put some food out for these cats, particularly during the winter months.

To those kind souls who have been willing to take on these tasks we offer our heartfelt thanks. We have already successfully released several cats to these barns, and have received reports that the cats are doing well in these settings. If interested in more information or in participating in this program, you may contact us at marscats@sympatico.ca or call us at 905-855-0357. Thank you in advance for your interest.
